Russ Whitney is another name
in the no money down real estate and much like several other names in the field
he is considered overpriced and under effective. As a guru, Russ Whitney conducts
seminars and sells courses on making a lot of money by investing in real
estate. What is typical with his courses and talks is that he makes it sound
like cakewalk. Most people who seriously invest in real estate realize that
much of this is just sales tactics. People claim that Russ Whitney’s
techniques of selling his courses are much more effective than his real estate
tactics. Often these marketing gimmicks are deceptive and stake false claims.
Russ Whitney’s seminars can
cost anything from $1000 to $2000 and if you were to opt for his boot camp, you
can end up spending anything between $6000 and $28,000. It is not a small sum
for most starters in the real estate field. To add to it all, most of these
seminars are nothing but pure sham, with a fancy set-up and slick speakers.
Several students complain that their questions usually unanswered.
One program that Russ
Whitney typically sells is his book called Building Wealth and the
tapes that come with it as part of the course. The book is boring except that
it gives a few numbers on houses that Whitney is said to have profited from.
The whole book makes the real estate business sound profitable. Whitney uses
techniques similar to Carleton Sheets’ method of building up credit in
several banks to get loans for the down payment you will need to make on
properties. He also suggests lying to your banker when using this credit. This
is distinctly unethical and makes Russ Whitney rather untrustworthy. He
also offers a bird dog program where he claims that he will invest money in
deals that his students bring in. He also talks of students who have been
successful doing this. Unfortunately, if you were to go out looking for one
person who seconds the claim, you would have no luck. Most people simply say
that Russ Whitney has nothing special to offer. Much of the advice he
provides is available for much cheaper and from much more reliable sources. If
you are looking at making a career through real estate, then Russ Whitney certainly
is not your mentor.
